Amazon for Fashion

Casually scrolling through my Facebook feed I am seeing a pop of of gift ideas for every person in my family. You can tell the algorithms were watching. Most I am generally scrolling past until one catches my eye. An advertisement showcasing Oscar de la Renta being added to Amazon Fashion. Many thoughts ran through my head including, that would look great on a zoom call, oh look it’s that mustard color Vicki talked about a few months ago and then the final was what is high end fashion doing on Amazon. The same place I can buy toothpaste and a new projector (both my cyber Monday splurges) also includes designer brands I usually only stare enviously at in the Las Vegas Fashion Mall during my Expo downtime each year. Now, I could just add to cart and Prime deliver it up.

In the promoverse we have already been watching the emersion of Amazon as an existing competition, especially to larger online based distributors. We have already seen Amazon take over grocery shopping, expand into prescription drugs, subscription orders and so much more. Is this a good channel for fashion designers to go? Even with the slightly exclusive nature of the mobile only ap that is only accessible by invitation (clicking on the ad) does it cheapen the brand or does it make it relatable? Only time will tell. For now, I will be opting out of the $2,590 dress and sticking with my Old Navy cash.

A Message in Memory of Tony Hsieh

So many were sharing stories of inspiration brought on by this corporate and social icon. The CEO of Zappos who created a corporate cultural shift into corporate responsibility, employee centric customer service and community involvement, left his mark on so many. I have heard him speak at two different events and each time was amazed by him. He will be greatly missed, but we are all hopeful for the example he set. May more of those who are able to influence change can fill his shoes.

Our Favorite Things

There are so many options for end of year gifting. I love the outpouring of wanting employees and customers alike to feel appreciated this holiday. Each week we will be providing a few things we think will be hot sellers this holiday season and into Q1 based on our experience in trend watching.

Batch and Bodega Rise And Shine

I picked this item for a few reasons. First because I love the concept of Batch and Bodega and the focus on artisan crafters. Second is because this provides an experience which we are all looking for. As you receive the gift you can make yourself tea and breakfast. I also love that it includes an oven mit and spatula so you still have something to think of when you have finished your snacking. And finally, the packaging is INCREDIBLE. It really is.. .the total package.

Peerless The Selva Umbrella

Umbrellas never get as much love as they deserve, especially in programs. Honestly though, when was the last time you got rid of an umbrella? I love this one specifically for its fashion forward wood handle giving it a very trending earth/nature vibe and because it is Eco Friendly. Per the website the canopy is made of 5 recycled plastic bottles which combines with the bamboo shaft to make this not only practical but sustainable. To top it off, 1% of the proceeds are being given to the Rainforest Action Network. It is the trifecta of modern focus.

Gemline Modern Sprout Indoor Herb Garden Kit

This is a little old school fashioned with modern focus. If you read or listened about homesteading which has come up several times this is a great gift for anyone. The kit includes all you need to grow a little herb garden on your windowsill. With people being home to cook and home to take care of plants this is a win win for all ages.
